Description
HVI CDS-3632U Thumper Repair
The HVI (High Voltage Inc.) CDS-3632U is a cable fault location system (“thumper”) — it combines a high-voltage surge generator with prelocation methods (TDR / arc-reflection) to find faults on underground power cable. Because it integrates HV surge and sensitive measurement, repairs span the HV side and the prelocation/measurement side both.
June Company repairs and calibrates the HVI CDS-3632U for utility fault crews and cable contractors.
Common HVI CDS-3632U problems we fix
- Won’t thump or weak surge — HV surge generator faults (capacitor, discharge switch, HV supply), repaired to restore full surge energy.
- Arc-reflection / prelocation not working — the coupling and measurement path for ARM/TDR, restored so it prelocates faults.
- Won’t reach set voltage — HV charging-supply faults, repaired.
- Internal HV arcing — insulation breakdown from stress.
- Control or metering faults.
FAQs
My thumper won’t surge or prelocate — fixable? Yes. We isolate whether it’s the HV surge side or the arc-reflection/prelocation path, repair the cause, and verify the full fault-location workflow, with documented results.
Are the prelocation functions verified? Yes — surge and arc-reflection/TDR are tested together.
Every repair includes NIST-traceable calibration and a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty. Email us or submit a service request.
