Description
Megger Smart Thump 16 Surge Generator Repair
The Megger Smart Thump ST16 is a cable fault locator with an integrated surge generator (thumper) — it applies high-voltage surges to underground power cables and uses TDR-based prelocation and pinpointing to find faults. It pairs a high-voltage surge source with measurement/TDR electronics, so faults concentrate in the surge-generation (HV) section, the TDR/measurement system, and the control interface.
June Company repairs and calibrates the Megger Smart Thump 16 for cable-fault and utility crews.
Common Megger Smart Thump 16 problems we fix
- Surge-generator faults — won’t build or discharge the surge correctly, the HV surge section repaired.
- TDR / fault-location faults — the TDR prelocation not measuring distance correctly, repaired.
- HV output low or unstable — the high-voltage section degrading, repaired for correct surge energy.
- Control / interface faults — the control electronics, restored.
- Power or connection faults.
