Description
HVI VLF-50CMF Hipot Tester Repair
The HVI VLF-50CMF is a 50 kV sinusoidal VLF cable hipot from High Voltage Inc. — the “F” denotes its filtered true-sine 0.1 Hz output, which meets IEEE 400.2 sine-wave withstand requirements for medium-voltage cable. Its faults concentrate in the VLF generator that has to hold a clean sine, plus the control system.
June Company repairs and calibrates the VLF-50CMF for cable contractors and utilities running sine-wave VLF tests.
Common VLF-50CMF problems we fix
- VLF generator output failure — won’t reach 50 kV or the sine collapses, rebuilt for full clean output.
- Control system faults — the control electronics not sequencing the test, repaired.
- Waveform distortion — regulation faults degrading the true-sine output, corrected to spec.
- Metering drift — voltage/leakage measurement recalibrated.
- Internal HV arcing or interlock faults.
FAQs
My VLF-50CMF sine looks distorted — fixable? Yes. Waveform distortion traces to the VLF generator or regulation; we repair it so the 0.1 Hz sine meets IEEE 400.2, verified with a NIST-traceable certificate.
Are control faults covered? Yes — the control system is repaired and verified along with the HV output.
Every repair includes NIST-traceable calibration and a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty. Email us or submit a service request.
