Description
Megger MIT520/2 Insulation Tester Repair
The MIT520/2 is a 5 kV diagnostic insulation resistance tester from Megger’s MIT500 range — built for testing cable, switchgear, and rotating-machine insulation with timed diagnostic tests (PI, DAR). The hardworking part is the high-voltage generator that has to hold a stable 5 kV into real insulation, so that’s where most faults originate.
June Company repairs and calibrates the MIT520/2 for utility and industrial crews running insulation diagnostics.
Common MIT520/2 problems we fix
- Won’t reach 5 kV or output is low — HV generator degradation, the most common MIT fault; without full test voltage, results are invalid. Repaired so it hits rated voltage.
- Readings drift or won’t settle — measurement-circuit degradation causing unstable insulation-resistance values, recalibrated.
- PI/DAR timed tests not calculating — the diagnostic functions that ratio readings over time, restored.
- Guard terminal not working — guard-circuit damage from incorrect lead connection.
- Won’t charge or download — battery and interface faults.
FAQs
My MIT won’t reach 5 kV — fixable? Yes, and it’s the most common repair. HV generator faults are repairable, then verified so the tester delivers full rated voltage and your readings are valid.
Do the PI and DAR functions get verified? Yes — the diagnostic timed tests are checked along with recalibration, with a NIST-traceable certificate.
Every repair includes NIST-traceable calibration and a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty. Email us or submit a service request.
