Overview

Megger VLF (Very Low Frequency) test systems apply 0.1 Hz or 0.01 Hz sine wave or cosine-rectangular waveforms to medium and high-voltage cables for withstand testing and insulation diagnostics. VLF testing has largely replaced DC hipot testing for XLPE and EPR cables because it stresses cable insulation in a manner similar to power frequency without the space charge accumulation issues of DC testing. The VLF Sine Wave series provides true sine wave output up to 62 kV. The VLF CR series uses cosine-rectangular waveforms with integrated diagnostic capabilities including tan delta and partial discharge measurement.
