Description
Megger Surgeflex 15-1150 Cable Fault Locator Repair
The Surgeflex 15-1150 (SFX) is Megger’s compact, all-in-one cable fault location system — it combines surge generation (thumping), TDR prelocation, and a receiver into a single portable unit, so a one- or two-person crew can prelocate and pinpoint a fault without hauling separate boxes. Because it integrates several functions, repairs span the HV surge side and the sensitive measurement side both.
June Company repairs and calibrates the Surgeflex 15-1150 for underground cable crews and contractors who rely on it as their go-everywhere fault locator.
Common Surgeflex 15-1150 problems we fix
- Surge/thump output weak or absent — HV surge-generator or capacitor failure on the thumping side, rebuilt so it delivers full energy to break down and pinpoint the fault.
- TDR trace weak or noisy — prelocation transmitter/receiver degradation that makes pre-location traces hard to read, restored for clean reflections.
- Receiver won’t pick up the thump — receiver sensitivity loss that stops pinpointing, repaired and recalibrated.
- Won’t hold a charge — battery degradation on this portable, all-in-one unit.
- Display or control faults — the integrated control and display that ties the functions together.
FAQs
My Surgeflex prelocates but won’t pinpoint — fixable? Usually that’s the surge side or the receiver, not the TDR. We isolate which function failed and repair it, then verify the full prelocate-to-pinpoint workflow.
Do you service all three functions? Yes — surge, TDR, and receiver are tested together so the integrated system works as one again, with NIST-traceable calibration.
Every repair includes NIST-traceable calibration and a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty. Email us or submit a service request.
