Evident 39DL PLUS Thickness Gauge Repair

The 39DL PLUS is the high-penetration corrosion gauge in the Evident range, covering 0.08 mm to 635 mm depending on material and transducer, with THRU-COAT technology that reads true metal thickness through paint and coatings from a single backwall echo, plus echo-to-echo modes. It updates at 60 Hz, resolves to 0.01 mm as standard or 0.001 mm on the high-resolution option, works from -10 to +50 degrees C, and carries Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, RS-232 and a removable microSD card. It spends its life on tank walls, pipework and ship hulls, and the faults that come with that are mechanical as much as electronic.

FAQs

We are losing readings on heavily corroded surfaces. Is the gauge failing? Sometimes, and sometimes it is the transducer or couplant technique. We test the instrument against reference standards with a known-good probe to separate those.

THRU-COAT readings look wrong. Is that repairable? Usually yes. It normally traces to the pulser-receiver or the transducer rather than to anything fundamental.
