Description

Evident Vanta Core XRF Analyzer Repair

The Vanta Core sits directly below the Max and shares most of its architecture: a 4-watt X-ray tube (silver anode to 50 kV, rhodium to 40 kV), a silicon drift detector behind a graphene window, an eight-position filter wheel and the same solid detector shutter. It is the more sealed of the two, rated IP55 rather than IP54, and its mesh window material is the more puncture-resistant of the pair. That changes what comes in for repair: fewer torn windows than the rest of the range, and proportionally more detector, filter wheel and shutter work.

June Company’s certified technicians repair the Vanta Core for PMI inspectors, scrap and secondary metal recyclers, manufacturing QA teams, and field geologists. We diagnose and repair at the board and component level, and every instrument is functionally tested against a known reference sample before it ships back.

Common Vanta Core problems we fix

  • Detector resolution loss — peaks broadening until grade matches stop resolving cleanly against the library.
  • Punctured or contaminated measurement window — less frequent than on unshuttered analyzers, but still the fastest route to a damaged detector.
  • Detector shutter faults — sticking, mis-indexing, or failing to close between measurements.
  • X-ray tube output degradation — longer count times needed for the same precision, most visible on trace and light elements.
  • Filter wheel faults — the wheel not indexing to the selected beam, producing mid-test errors.
  • Failed startup standardization — the analyzer no longer standardizing correctly against its calibration reference.
  • Battery, charging and power faults — shortened runtime, or shutdowns partway through a shift.
  • Thermal shutdown and heat management faults — duty cycle dropping away in hot working environments.
  • Touchscreen, trigger and proximity-interlock failures — the controls and safety interlocks that stop the analyzer firing when they fail.
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB connectivity faults — results no longer exporting or syncing to your reporting workflow.

FAQs

My grade IDs have drifted against a known reference sample. Repairable? Yes. Drift of that kind usually traces to the detector or the window, and both are repairable.

Is the Core repaired differently from the Max? The architecture is close enough that diagnosis is similar, but the Core’s higher ingress rating and tougher window change which faults we see most, and we work through them in that order.

Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.
