Description
Hipotronics X-Wave Cable Fault Locator Repair
The X-Wave is a complete cable fault location system — it combines surge generation (thumping) with prelocation methods so a crew can narrow down and then pinpoint a fault on power cable. As high-energy HV equipment paired with sensitive prelocation electronics, repairs span the surge side and the measurement side both.
June Company repairs and calibrates the X-Wave for utility fault crews and underground cable contractors.
Common X-Wave problems we fix
- No thump / surge won’t fire — HV supply, surge-capacitor, or discharge-switch failure, the defining thumper fault, rebuilt so it discharges at full energy.
- Surge too weak to break down the fault — capacitor or switch degradation reducing delivered energy, restored.
- Prelocation not working — the TDR/ARM prelocation circuitry that narrows the search before thumping.
- Internal HV arcing or leakage — insulation breakdown from cumulative stress.
- Control or interlock faults — the sequencing and safety circuits.
FAQs
My X-Wave won’t thump — repairable? Yes. That points to the HV supply, capacitor, or discharge switch, all serviceable, then verified so it delivers full surge energy safely.
Do you check the full locate workflow? Yes — surge and prelocation functions are verified together so the system works end to end.
Every repair includes NIST-traceable calibration and a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty. Email us or submit a service request.
