Description

Bruker CTX XRF Analyzer Repair

The CTX is Bruker’s countertop, closed-beam XRF: the same SharpBeam geometry, CUBE-technology silicon drift detector and TITAN Detector Shield found in the handheld line, packaged into a self-contained and fully interlocked chamber with automated voltage and current control. Because the beam is enclosed rather than pointed at a sample by hand, its failure pattern is different from a handheld — interlocks, chamber hardware and the sample stage matter as much as the X-ray path, and an interlock fault stops the instrument dead by design.

June Company’s certified technicians repair the Bruker CTX for jewelers and precious metal buyers, electronics and RoHS labs, recyclers, and manufacturing QA teams. We diagnose and repair at the board and component level, and every instrument is functionally tested against a known reference sample before it ships back.

Common Bruker CTX problems we fix

  • Safety interlock and lid faults — the chamber refusing to arm — working exactly as designed, and the most common reason a CTX stops.
  • X-ray shutter faults — the shutter not opening or closing cleanly at the start and end of a measurement.
  • Detector resolution loss — peaks broadening until grade matches stop resolving cleanly against the library.
  • X-ray tube output degradation — longer count times needed for the same precision, most visible on trace and light elements.
  • Sample chamber and stage faults — the tray or positioning hardware not seating samples repeatably.
  • Contaminated or damaged measurement window — debris and residue from powders, filings and small parts.
  • Failed startup standardization — the analyzer no longer standardizing correctly against its calibration reference.
  • Power supply faults — the instrument not powering up, or dropping out under load.
  • PC and software connection faults — the CTX no longer talking to its control software or exporting results.

FAQs

The lid interlock trips and the CTX will not run. Is that repairable? Yes, and it is one of the more common CTX faults. The interlock is a safety system, so we repair it rather than bypass it.

My karat readings have drifted. What causes that on a countertop unit? Usually detector condition, window contamination or standardization — the same chain as a handheld, but a contaminated chamber is a bigger factor here.

Can you work on the CTX without the original control PC? Yes, though sending it with the instrument helps us reproduce a software-related fault rather than guess at it.

Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.
