Description
Hitachi X-MET8000 XRF Analyzer Repair
The X-MET8000 pairs a high-performance X-ray tube with a large-area silicon drift detector in a roughly 1.5 kg body rated IP54 and MIL-STD-810G, and it ships in three configurations that matter for repair: the Smart with a 40 kV tube and a single filter, the Optimum adding a 40/50 kV tube with a six-position filter wheel and light element coverage from magnesium to uranium, and the Expert running 50 kV with empirical calibrations, small-spot collimation and an integrated camera. Two options change the failure picture as well — the window shield that protects the detector from sharp scrap, and the optional HERO heat-resistant window that raises maximum sample temperature from 100 °C to 400 °C.
June Company’s certified technicians repair the X-MET8000 for scrap and recycling operations, PMI inspectors, precious metals and jewelry buyers, and manufacturing QA teams. We diagnose and repair at the board and component level, and every instrument is functionally tested against a known reference sample before it ships back.
Common X-MET8000 problems we fix
- Punctured or clouded measurement window — the most common failure on any handheld XRF, and one that degrades light-element results well before it fails outright.
- Window shield faults — the shield that keeps sharp scrap off the detector no longer seating or protecting correctly.
- HERO heat-resistant window faults — high-temperature sample capability lost, usually noticed only when hot testing starts failing.
- Detector resolution loss — peaks broadening until grade matches stop resolving cleanly against the library.
- X-ray tube output degradation — longer count times needed for the same precision, most visible on trace and light elements.
- Filter wheel faults — the six-position wheel on Optimum and Expert units not indexing to the selected beam.
- Small-spot collimator and camera faults — pinpoint analysis on Expert units no longer landing where it is aimed.
- Failed startup standardization — the analyzer no longer standardizing correctly against its calibration reference.
- Battery, charging and power faults — shortened runtime, or shutdowns partway through a shift.
- Touchscreen, trigger and proximity-interlock failures — the controls and safety interlocks that stop the analyzer firing when they fail.
- Data export and cloud connectivity faults — results not reaching USB, app or cloud storage.
FAQs
Which X-MET8000 model do I have, and does it change the repair? It changes the testing. Smart, Optimum and Expert differ in tube, filters and calibration approach, and we functionally test against the configuration in front of us.
I test hot samples. Will you check the HERO window? Tell us when you send it. High-temperature capability is not part of a standard functional test and needs to be verified deliberately.
Light elements have dropped off on my Optimum. Repairable? Usually. On this model light-element coverage depends on the filter wheel and beam selection as well as the window and detector, and we work through all of them.
Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.
