Description

Bruker Titan XRF Analyzer Repair

The S1 TITAN is Bruker’s flagship handheld XRF: a 4-watt tube running to 50 kV against a graphene-window silicon drift detector with a 20 mm² active area, arranged in Bruker’s SharpBeam geometry to reach high count rates at lower power. At roughly 1.5 kg with battery it is one of the lightest tube-based handhelds made, and it is the model built around the patented TITAN Detector Shield. That shield is the defining part for repair purposes: when it is working, window punctures are rare, and when it is not, the detector behind it is exposed.

June Company’s certified technicians repair the S1 TITAN for PMI inspectors, scrap and secondary metal recyclers, manufacturing QA teams, and geochemists. We diagnose and repair at the board and component level, and every instrument is functionally tested against a known reference sample before it ships back.

Common S1 TITAN problems we fix

  • TITAN Detector Shield faults — the puncture-protection mechanism sticking, mis-seating or no longer covering the detector.
  • Punctured or clouded measurement window — the most common failure on any handheld XRF, and one that degrades light-element results well before it fails outright.
  • Detector resolution loss — peaks broadening until grade matches stop resolving cleanly against the library.
  • X-ray tube output degradation — longer count times needed for the same precision, most visible on trace and light elements.
  • Filter and beam selection faults — beam settings not switching correctly, producing results that do not match the selected calibration.
  • Camera and small-spot collimator faults — camera-assisted targeting misaligned, or the 3 mm or 5 mm collimator not indexing.
  • Failed startup standardization — the analyzer no longer standardizing correctly against its calibration reference.
  • Battery, charging and power faults — shortened runtime, or shutdowns partway through a shift.
  • Thermal shutdown and heat management faults — duty cycle dropping away in hot working environments.
  • Touchscreen, trigger and proximity-interlock failures — the controls and safety interlocks that stop the analyzer firing when they fail.

FAQs

Bruker guarantees the window against punctures. Why would I send it to you? Coverage terms are between you and Bruker and worth checking first. We handle instruments that are out of coverage, out of warranty, or where turnaround from the manufacturer is the problem.

SMART Grade timing has become unpredictable. Is that a software or hardware fault? It is usually downstream of count rate — a degraded tube or detector changes how long the analyzer needs, which shows up as timing that no longer behaves. We diagnose the hardware first.

Which S1 TITAN models do you work on? All configurations in the line, including the 300, 500, 600 and 800.

Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.
