Description
Megger EZ-Restore Cable Fault Locator Repair
The Megger EZ-Restore is a cable fault-conditioning and location system — it applies high-voltage energy to “restore” (burn down) high-resistance faults into a locatable state, then works with prelocation and pinpointing to find them. As high-energy HV equipment with prelocation electronics, faults span the surge/HV side and the measurement side.
June Company repairs and calibrates the Megger EZ-Restore for utility fault crews and underground cable contractors.
Common Megger EZ-Restore problems we fix
- Surge generator rebuild — won’t produce or sustain the HV energy needed to condition the fault, rebuilt for full output.
- TDR recalibration — the prelocation reflectometer weak or drifting, recalibrated for clean traces.
- Receiver sensitivity restoration — can’t pick up for pinpointing, restored.
- Battery service — won’t run or hold a charge, replaced.
- Internal HV arcing or control faults.
FAQs
My EZ-Restore won’t condition the fault — fixable? Yes. That points to the HV/surge side; we rebuild it so it restores faults at full output, and verify the prelocation and pinpoint functions, with documented results.
Are all functions verified? Yes — surge, TDR, and receiver are tested together.
