Description
Megger MJ459 Insulation Tester Repair
The Megger MJ459 is a hand-cranked / motor-driven insulation resistance tester — a rugged, long-serving megohmmeter that generates its own high test voltage to measure insulation resistance on motors, cables, and apparatus, valued for field use without batteries. As HV test equipment, its faults concentrate in the generator (hand-crank/motor) drive, the HV generation, and the measurement movement/circuit.
June Company repairs and calibrates the Megger MJ459 for motor shops, cable contractors, and field crews.
Common Megger MJ459 problems we fix
- Generator / drive faults — the hand-crank or motor drive not turning the generator correctly, repaired so it produces test voltage.
- Won’t reach test voltage — HV-generation faults, repaired for full rated voltage.
- Readings drift or won’t settle — the measurement movement/circuit, recalibrated against standards.
- Guard or terminal faults — repaired.
- Mechanical / housing wear — from field use.
FAQs
It’s an older crank MJ459 — still repairable? Yes. These are rugged and very serviceable; we repair the generator and measurement, then recalibrate so it delivers full rated voltage and accurate readings, with a NIST-traceable certificate.
Can you still calibrate it? Yes — HV output and insulation-resistance accuracy are checked against our standards.
Every repair includes NIST-traceable calibration and a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty. Email us or submit a service request.
