Description
Evident OmniScan X3 Flaw Detector Repair
The OmniScan X3 is the phased array flaw detector that brought total focusing method imaging into mainstream inspection, available in 16:64PR, 16:128PR and 32:128PR configurations with conventional UT channels alongside. It runs a 10.6 inch 1280 by 768 resistive touchscreen, carries 64 GB of internal SSD storage with SDHC and USB expansion, and is built to IP65. It is an expensive instrument doing demanding work, and the faults we see are concentrated in the parts that get handled.
June Company’s certified technicians repair the OmniScan X3 for NDT service companies, weld inspection teams, pipeline and pressure vessel inspectors and power generation maintenance crews. We diagnose and repair at the board and component level, and every instrument is functionally verified before it ships back.
Common OmniScan X3 problems we fix
- Phased array connector faults — bent or worn pins producing dead or intermittent elements, which look like probe failures until you test the instrument.
- Pulser-receiver board faults — element-level failures that show as dropouts in the aperture rather than as a clean fault.
- Touchscreen and display faults — digitizer failure or dead panels, which make a touchscreen-driven instrument unusable.
- Battery and power faults — runtime loss, or shutdowns partway through an inspection.
- SSD and data storage faults — scans not saving, or stored data becoming unreadable.
- Encoder and scanner interface faults — position data not registering, which corrupts encoded scans.
- Communication faults — USB, Ethernet or wireless links dropping during data transfer.
- Housing and sealing damage — cracked enclosures and failed gaskets compromising the IP65 rating.
- Calibration and setup faults — the instrument no longer calibrating reliably against reference blocks.
- Cooling and thermal faults — the instrument throttling or shutting down under sustained TFM acquisition.
FAQs
Some elements are dead. Is that the probe or the instrument? That is exactly the question we answer first, and it is frequently the connector rather than either. We test the instrument against a known-good probe before quoting anything.
Do you repair at board level? Yes. We diagnose and repair to the board and component level rather than swapping whole assemblies by default, which keeps the cost down.
Do you handle the X3 64 and the X4? Yes, both, along with the wider OmniScan family.
Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.
