Description
Evident NORTEC 600 Eddy Current Flaw Detector Repair
The NORTEC 600 is Evident’s portable eddy current flaw detector, covering 10 Hz to 12 MHz behind a 5.7 in. VGA display, IP66 rated and EN 15548 compliant, running up to ten hours on a charge and storing up to 500 program and data files. It comes in four variants: N600 base, N600C for conductivity, N600S for scanners and N600D for dual frequency. Eddy current is a technique where instrument health is hard to judge from the screen: a drifting balance circuit or a marginal connector produces a display that looks entirely normal while quietly costing sensitivity to the cracks the inspection exists to find.
June Company’s certified technicians repair the NORTEC 600 for aerospace maintenance shops, aircraft structural inspectors, weld and surface inspection teams, and NDT service companies. We diagnose and repair at the board and component level, and every instrument is functionally verified against calibrated reference blocks before it ships back.
Common NORTEC 600 problems we fix
- Probe drive and balance circuit faults — the instrument failing to null properly, or drifting off balance during a scan.
- Probe, connector and cable faults — intermittent or dead channels that trace back to worn connectors rather than the probe itself.
- Sensitivity loss — known reference notches producing a smaller response than they should, without any obvious error.
- Display and touchscreen failures — dim, dead or unresponsive panels, including digitizer faults that make the interface unusable in the field.
- Battery, charging and power faults — shortened runtime, or shutdowns partway through a shift.
- USB, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth communication faults — results not transferring to the host software, or the instrument not being recognized at all.
- Housing, seal and ruggedization damage — cracked enclosures and failed gaskets after a drop, which let dust and moisture inside the instrument.
- Rotary scanner interface faults — bolt-hole scanner drive or signal problems traced to the instrument interface.
- Calibration faults — the instrument not calibrating reliably against reference standards.
- Data storage and export faults — inspection records not saving or not transferring to the reporting software.
FAQs
The display looks fine but we are missing indications. Is that possible? Yes, and it is the failure mode worth worrying about on eddy current. Sensitivity loss does not announce itself — it is found by testing against reference standards, which is exactly what we do.
Will it null correctly after repair? We verify balance and sensitivity against reference standards before return, and the results come back with the instrument.
Do you service the NORTEC 500 and other models? Yes, the NORTEC line comes through the same bench.
Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.
