Description
SciAps X-200 XRF Analyzer Repair
The X-200 is the value version of the X-505: the same 20 mm² SDD and digital pulse processing, a 40 kV rhodium or 50 kV gold anode, around 125,000 counts per second at better than 90% live time, in a 1.4 kg body with redesigned heat sinking that lets it run continuously at ambient temperatures up to about 43 °C. It also carries an internal automated calibration check and GPS traceability, which are the features compliance programs depend on — and the features most likely to be the actual complaint when an X-200 comes in.
June Company’s certified technicians repair the SciAps X-200 for compliance and QA programs, scrap and recycling operations, PMI inspectors, and geochemists. We diagnose and repair at the board and component level, and every instrument is functionally tested against a known reference sample before it ships back.
Common SciAps X-200 problems we fix
- Punctured or clouded measurement window — the most common failure on any handheld XRF, and one that degrades light-element results well before it fails outright.
- Detector resolution loss — peaks broadening until grade matches stop resolving cleanly against the library.
- X-ray tube output degradation — longer count times needed for the same precision, most visible on trace and light elements.
- Failed startup standardization — the analyzer no longer standardizing correctly against its calibration reference.
- Touchscreen, trigger and proximity-interlock failures — the controls and safety interlocks that stop the analyzer firing when they fail.
- Internal calibration check faults — the automated check failing or passing units that no longer agree with a reference sample.
- Filter wheel and beam faults — beams not indexing across the five-beam sequence.
- Thermal management faults — the redesigned heat sinking no longer holding continuous operation in hot conditions.
- GPS and traceability faults — results not carrying location data your audit trail depends on.
- Battery and charging faults — runtime dropping, or charging failing in or out of the instrument.
FAQs
The internal calibration check passes but my results disagree with a certified reference. What now? That combination points at the detector or the beam path rather than the check hardware, and it is exactly the case worth sending in.
Do you test against certified reference materials before return? Every instrument is functionally tested against a known reference sample. Send yours if you want it verified against the specific material you work with.
Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.
