Description

Metrohm NanoRam-1064 Handheld Raman Analyzer Repair

June Company repairs the Metrohm NanoRam-1064 at the component level — the 1064 nm laser, the detector and its cooling, the spectrograph, the sampling interface and the control boards — rather than swapping modules until something works. Send us the instrument and you get a firm quote before anything is touched, a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty on the work, and NIST-traceable calibration included with most repairs. The evaluation fee is credited to the repair, and most instruments are back out the door in one to three business days.

Knowing the instrument is the difference between a repair and a parts swap. The NanoRam-1064 exists because 785 nm excitation fails on a whole class of pharmaceutical raw materials — coloured, fluorescent or biologically derived — where the sample’s own emission swamps the Raman signal. Moving to 1064 nm suppresses that, at the cost of a different and more demanding detector. For repair the consequence is specific: the fluorescence advantage is the first thing to disappear as either the laser or the detector drifts, and it disappears before anything looks broken. We measure excitation power and detector response independently, because on a 1064 nm instrument the expensive assumption is usually the wrong one.

What is included with every NanoRam-1064 repair

  • Component-level diagnosis and repair — board and component work by certified technicians, not module replacement.
  • A firm quote before any work begins — including which subsystem failed and why, so the decision is yours.
  • 90-day parts-and-labor warranty on everything we repair.
  • NIST-traceable calibration included with most repairs.
  • Functional testing against a known reference sample before the instrument ships back.
  • Evaluation fee credited to the repair — it is not an extra charge on top.
  • No forms and no account needed — send it in and we take it from there.
  • Out-of-warranty and end-of-support instruments welcome — a large share of what comes through the bench.

Common NanoRam-1064 problems we fix

  • Laser output degradation — 1064 nm excitation power falling until spectra get noisy and match confidence drops.
  • Fluorescence rejection falling away — the advantage of 1064 nm excitation disappearing as laser or detector performance drifts.
  • Detector cooling faults — thermal control drifting, which raises the noise floor before it fails outright.
  • Sapphire window and sampling interface damage — scratching or clouding where the sample actually meets the optics.
  • Detector degradation — rising noise floor and falling sensitivity, worst on weak bands and trace components.
  • Optical alignment drift — throughput falling away after a drop, with peaks no longer landing where the library expects.
  • Battery, charging and power faults — shortened runtime, or shutdowns partway through a shift.
  • Display and touchscreen failures — dim, dead or unresponsive panels, including digitizer faults that make it unusable in gloves.
  • USB, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth faults — results not transferring to the host software, or the instrument not being recognised at all.
  • Failed startup self-check or calibration verification — no longer verifying correctly against its internal reference standard.

FAQs

What does the evaluation involve, and what does it cost me? We bench-test the instrument, identify the failed subsystem and send you a firm price. The evaluation fee is credited to the repair if you go ahead, so the repair costs what the quote says and nothing more.

Is a 1064 nm laser repairable, or is it always a replacement? It depends on the failure. Drive and thermal-control faults are frequently repairable; a failed emitter is not, and we tell you which one you have before any work starts.

Spectra are noisier than they were but nothing has failed. Worth sending? Yes. On a 1064 nm instrument that is the normal early symptom, and it is cheaper to address before match confidence starts costing you results.

Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.

Shipping & Returns

Packing your equipment. You are responsible for packaging equipment adequately for transit. We strongly recommend the original manufacturer’s case, or double-boxing with at least two inches of shock-absorbing material on all six sides. We return your equipment in the packaging it arrived in, so please send it in packaging that will survive the return trip as well. If your packaging is damaged or inadequate for the return, we will substitute suitable packaging and may charge the cost of materials.

Insurance. Equipment is not insured by June Company while in transit. We strongly recommend insuring your shipment for its full replacement value.

Risk of loss. Risk of loss remains with you until your equipment is received at our facility, and transfers back to you when your repaired unit is delivered to the carrier (F.O.B. shipping point). June Company is not responsible for equipment lost, delayed, misdelivered, or damaged in transit, in either direction.

Return label. A prepaid and preprinted return shipping label should be included with your shipment. If one is not included, we will provide one.

Transit damage. Damage occurring in transit is the responsibility of the carrier. It is not a warranty defect and is not covered by the 90-day repair warranty. Any claim must be filed by you with the carrier; we will supply photographs and documentation to support it at no charge.
