Description

ASD QualitySpec Trek Spectrometer Repair

The QualitySpec Trek is a full-range 350 to 2500 nm handheld contact spectrometer, resolving roughly 3 nm at 700 nm and about 10 nm at 1400 and 2100 nm, built around a cable-free workflow with an integrated light source, internal white reference for hands-free optimization, onboard GPS, a voice recorder and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Everything that makes it self-contained is also a thing that can fail, which is why these come to us with a wider range of faults than a tethered laboratory instrument.

June Company’s certified technicians repair the QualitySpec Trek for quality control teams, agricultural and food scientists, materials researchers and field sampling groups. We diagnose and repair at the board and component level, and every instrument is functionally verified before it ships back.

Common QualitySpec Trek problems we fix

  • SWIR detector faults — degradation in the 1000 to 2500 nm region, where most of the analytical work happens.
  • VNIR detector faults — noise or dead channels across the visible and near-infrared range.
  • Internal white reference faults — the hands-free optimization no longer producing a valid reference.
  • Internal light source faults — lamp output dropping, which biases every contact measurement.
  • Contact probe and window wear — a scratched or clouded contact window changing results without any obvious symptom.
  • GPS and audio recorder faults — location and voice notes not attaching to measurements, breaking the field workflow.
  • Battery and charging faults — runtime falling short, or the unit not charging at all.
  • Wavelength calibration drift — spectra no longer matching reference standards.
  • Display and trigger faults — unresponsive panels or a trigger that no longer fires reliably.
  • Housing and seal damage — cracked enclosures and failed seals after drops in the field.

FAQs

The contact window is scratched. Does that matter? Yes, more than most people expect. A clouded window shifts results quietly rather than failing outright. It is an inexpensive part to replace.

Can you repair the internal reference? Usually. It is one of the most common faults on this model and it is rarely the detector behind it.

Do you service other QualitySpec instruments? Yes, along with the wider ASD range including TerraSpec and LabSpec.

Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.

Shipping & Returns

Packing your equipment. You are responsible for packaging equipment adequately for transit. We strongly recommend the original manufacturer’s case, or double-boxing with at least two inches of shock-absorbing material on all six sides. We return your equipment in the packaging it arrived in, so please send it in packaging that will survive the return trip as well. If your packaging is damaged or inadequate for the return, we will substitute suitable packaging and may charge the cost of materials.

Insurance. Equipment is not insured by June Company while in transit. We strongly recommend insuring your shipment for its full replacement value.

Risk of loss. Risk of loss remains with you until your equipment is received at our facility, and transfers back to you when your repaired unit is delivered to the carrier (F.O.B. shipping point). June Company is not responsible for equipment lost, delayed, misdelivered, or damaged in transit, in either direction.

Return label. A prepaid and preprinted return shipping label should be included with your shipment. If one is not included, we will provide one.

Transit damage. Damage occurring in transit is the responsibility of the carrier. It is not a warranty defect and is not covered by the 90-day repair warranty. Any claim must be filed by you with the carrier; we will supply photographs and documentation to support it at no charge.
