Description

ASD TerraSpec Halo Mineral Analyzer Repair

The TerraSpec Halo is the all-in-one mineral identifier built around a full-range 350 to 2500 nm Vis-NIR-SWIR spectrometer, resolving roughly 3 nm at 700 nm and about 10 nm at 1400 and 2100 nm, with onboard software that returns a mineral identification, a confidence rating and spectral scalars on a trigger pull. It lives on drill pads and in core sheds, and the faults we see reflect that environment rather than a laboratory one.

June Company’s certified technicians repair the TerraSpec Halo for exploration geologists, core logging teams, mine site geochemists and geometallurgists. We diagnose and repair at the board and component level, and every instrument is functionally verified before it ships back.

Common TerraSpec Halo problems we fix

  • SWIR detector faults — the 1000 to 2500 nm region degrading, which is precisely the region the mineral identification depends on.
  • VNIR detector faults — noise or dead channels in the visible and near-infrared range.
  • Internal white reference faults — the reference no longer reading correctly, so every subsequent measurement is biased.
  • Illumination and lamp faults — source output dropping, which weakens SWIR results first.
  • Wavelength calibration drift — mineral identifications losing confidence, or returning the wrong mineral outright.
  • Trigger and contact probe wear — the trigger or the contact tip failing after sustained core logging.
  • Battery and power faults — runtime falling well short of a shift.
  • Onboard software and storage faults — results not saving, or the spectral library not loading.
  • Display and interface faults — dim or unresponsive panels in daylight.
  • Housing and seal damage — cracked enclosures and failed gaskets from drops and dust exposure on site.

FAQs

Our identifications have become unreliable. Is that a detector fault? Often it is the internal white reference or the lamp rather than the detector. We test all three, because replacing a detector that is fine is an expensive way to fix a lamp.

Is the spectral library affected by a repair? No. The library and your saved data are preserved. If a board replacement would affect them we tell you first.

Do you repair other TerraSpec models? Yes, including the standard TerraSpec and the wider ASD range.

Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.

Shipping & Returns

Packing your equipment. You are responsible for packaging equipment adequately for transit. We strongly recommend the original manufacturer’s case, or double-boxing with at least two inches of shock-absorbing material on all six sides. We return your equipment in the packaging it arrived in, so please send it in packaging that will survive the return trip as well. If your packaging is damaged or inadequate for the return, we will substitute suitable packaging and may charge the cost of materials.

Insurance. Equipment is not insured by June Company while in transit. We strongly recommend insuring your shipment for its full replacement value.

Risk of loss. Risk of loss remains with you until your equipment is received at our facility, and transfers back to you when your repaired unit is delivered to the carrier (F.O.B. shipping point). June Company is not responsible for equipment lost, delayed, misdelivered, or damaged in transit, in either direction.

Return label. A prepaid and preprinted return shipping label should be included with your shipment. If one is not included, we will provide one.

Transit damage. Damage occurring in transit is the responsibility of the carrier. It is not a warranty defect and is not covered by the 90-day repair warranty. Any claim must be filed by you with the carrier; we will supply photographs and documentation to support it at no charge.
