Description
Malvern Panalytical Aeris XRD Analyzer Repair
The Aeris is the compact benchtop X-ray diffractometer that put research-grade diffraction on a laboratory bench, running at 40 kV and 15 mA across a maximum range of 3 to 142 degrees 2-theta with 0.001 degree resolution. A six-position automatic sample changer and an onboard computer return results in as little as five minutes, and it covers classic Bragg-Brentano, transmission, low-angle, grazing incidence and non-ambient diffraction. Its precision is its value, which means alignment faults matter more here than raw failures.
June Company’s certified technicians repair the Aeris for analytical laboratories, pharmaceutical developers, cement and building materials producers, mining and metals groups and universities. We diagnose and repair at the board and component level, and every instrument is functionally verified before it ships back.
Common Aeris problems we fix
- X-ray tube faults — intensity dropping, extending count times or ending analysis.
- Goniometer and alignment faults — 2-theta drift on an instrument specified to 0.001 degree, which quietly invalidates phase identification.
- Detector faults — noise, dead strips or cooling loss degrading peak shape and resolution.
- Sample changer faults — the six-position changer misfeeding or jamming, which stops unattended runs.
- Optics and slit faults — divergence and anti-scatter optics out of position, changing peak intensity and background.
- Onboard computer faults — the system not booting, or data not writing to the host.
- Safety interlock faults — interlocks failing and correctly preventing X-ray generation.
- Power supply faults — high-voltage instability producing inconsistent intensities across a run.
- Communication faults — network or host links dropping during data transfer.
- Cooling and thermal faults — the instrument drifting as it warms, which shows as peaks moving through a long run.
FAQs
Our peak positions have shifted. Is that repairable? Yes, and it is usually goniometer alignment rather than anything failed. Realignment against a standard is a routine service on this instrument.
Can you work on the sample changer alone? Yes. Changer faults are common and are worth fixing separately from anything in the X-ray path.
Do you also service the TERRA II and BTX III? Yes, along with other portable and benchtop XRD instruments.
Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.
