Description

Malvern Panalytical Zetasizer Lab Particle Analyzer Repair

The Zetasizer Lab is the entry instrument in the Zetasizer Advance range, measuring size by dynamic light scattering from 0.3 nm upward and zeta potential by M3-PALS from 3.8 nm to 100 microns, with support for low-volume disposable capillary cells down to about 3 microlitres of sample. It carries Adaptive Correlation and the same data quality advice system as the rest of the range. It is the workhorse of the three, which means it sees more samples, more cells and more wear than its siblings.

June Company’s certified technicians repair the Zetasizer Lab for quality control laboratories, formulation groups, academic research labs and materials development teams. We diagnose and repair at the board and component level, and every instrument is functionally verified before it ships back.

Common Zetasizer Lab problems we fix

  • Laser output faults — intensity falling, which shows as longer measurements and weaker correlation.
  • Detector faults — count rate loss or elevated noise degrading size results.
  • Cell area contamination — the most common fault we see on high-throughput instruments, and the cheapest to fix.
  • Zeta electrode faults — fouled or degraded electrodes affecting zeta while size measures normally.
  • Temperature control faults — Peltier drift changing sample viscosity and biasing every size result.
  • Electrophoresis electronics faults — zeta measurements failing to complete or returning unstable values.
  • Optical alignment faults — detection optics out of position, reducing count rate.
  • Software and connection faults — ZS Xplorer not recognizing the instrument, or data not saving.
  • Cell holder and mechanical faults — the holder no longer seating cells consistently, which shows as poor repeatability.
  • Power supply faults — instability producing intermittent failures that are hard to reproduce.

FAQs

Repeatability has dropped. Where do you look first? The cell area and the cell holder, then temperature control. Those three account for most repeatability complaints and none of them require replacing anything expensive.

Is the Lab worth repairing against upgrading to a Pro or Ultra? Usually repairing, unless you actually need the extra measurement capability. We quote the repair so you can compare against a real number.

Do you handle the Pro and Ultra? Yes, the whole Zetasizer Advance range.

Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.

Shipping & Returns

Packing your equipment. You are responsible for packaging equipment adequately for transit. We strongly recommend the original manufacturer’s case, or double-boxing with at least two inches of shock-absorbing material on all six sides. We return your equipment in the packaging it arrived in, so please send it in packaging that will survive the return trip as well. Risk of loss. Risk of loss remains with you until your equipment is received at our facility, and transfers back to you when your repaired unit is delivered to the carrier (F.O.B. shipping point). June Company is not responsible for equipment lost, delayed, misdelivered, or damaged in transit, in either direction.

Return label. A prepaid and preprinted return shipping label should be included with your shipment. If one is not included, we will provide one.
