Bruker TANGO II FT-NIR Spectrometer Repair

The TANGO II is Bruker’s FT-NIR spectrometer for routine quality control, covering 11,500 to 4,000 cm-1 at better than 4 cm-1 resolution with wavenumber reproducibility better than 0.04 cm-1 at 7,181 cm-1, on about 40 W. It ships in two configurations, a transmission model for liquids with temperature control from +20 to +80 degrees C, and a reflection model for solids and semi-solids using a gold-coated integrating sphere with optional sample rotators. It is built to be operated by production staff rather than spectroscopists, and that operating model is what makes a fault expensive: the people using it are not equipped to tell a drifting instrument from a drifting process, so a quiet degradation can run for weeks before anyone questions the numbers.
