Description
Baur PGK 70/2.5 HB High Voltage Tester Repair
The Baur PGK 70/2.5 HB is a 70 kV VLF cable test set with the higher 2.5 µF load capability — it withstand-tests and diagnoses longer or higher-capacitance medium-voltage cable runs at 0.1 Hz, where the extra load capacity matters. Its faults are the same HV-generation faults as the PGK line, with the output stage sized for that larger cable load.
June Company repairs and calibrates the PGK 70/2.5 HB for crews testing longer MV cable runs.
Common PGK 70/2.5 HB problems we fix
- Can’t drive the rated cable load — output-stage degradation that shows up on long, high-capacitance cables, rebuilt to full capability.
- Won’t reach 70 kV / output collapses — HV failure after a flashover, repaired.
- Waveform distortion — regulation faults on the 0.1 Hz output, corrected.
- Metering drift — recalibrated.
- Internal HV arcing or interlock faults.
FAQs
It struggles on long cable runs — repairable? Yes. That points to the output stage’s load capability; we rebuild it so it drives the rated capacitance at full voltage, verified with a NIST-traceable certificate.
Is the waveform checked? Yes — voltage and frequency verified to spec.
Every repair includes NIST-traceable calibration and a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty. Email us or submit a service request.
