Description
Baur PGK 70 HB High Voltage Tester Repair
The Baur PGK 70 HB is a 70 kV VLF (very low frequency) high-voltage cable test set — it applies a 0.1 Hz sinusoidal high voltage to withstand-test and diagnose medium-voltage cable insulation without the space-charge problems of DC hipot. As HV-generation equipment, its faults are HV output-stage, regulation, and metering faults.
June Company repairs and calibrates the PGK 70 HB for cable-testing contractors and utility crews.
Common PGK 70 HB problems we fix
- Won’t reach 70 kV or output collapses — HV output-stage failure, often after a cable flashover, rebuilt for full VLF output.
- Waveform distorted or unstable — regulation degradation distorting the 0.1 Hz waveform, repaired to spec.
- Leakage/voltage metering off — measurement drift, recalibrated.
- Internal HV arcing — insulation breakdown from stress.
- Control or interlock faults.
FAQs
My PGK won’t reach voltage after a flashover — fixable? Yes. HV output-stage damage from a flashover is the most common PGK fault and it’s repairable, then verified so it delivers a clean full-voltage VLF waveform again.
Is the output certified? Yes — voltage and frequency verified with a NIST-traceable certificate.
Every repair includes NIST-traceable calibration and a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty. Email us or submit a service request.
