Description

Thermo Scientific 49iQ Ozone Analyzer Repair

The 49iQ measures ozone by UV photometry, from ppb levels up to 200 ppm, on the iQ Series platform with predictive diagnostics, a 7 inch color touchscreen and ePort remote access. UV photometric ozone measurement depends on a stable lamp and a clean optical path, and both of those degrade gradually rather than failing outright, which is why an analyzer can drift out of compliance while still appearing to work normally.

June Company’s certified technicians repair the 49iQ for air quality monitoring networks, environmental agencies, research groups and industrial compliance teams. We diagnose and repair at the board and component level, and every instrument is functionally verified before it ships back.

Common 49iQ problems we fix

  • UV lamp faults — lamp output falling with age, which is the most common cause of drift on this analyzer.
  • Detector faults — sensitivity loss raising noise and detection limits.
  • Ozone scrubber faults — the scrubber losing efficiency, which biases the zero reference and therefore every measurement.
  • Optical bench contamination — deposits on cell windows reducing transmission and shifting baselines.
  • Sample pump faults — reduced flow changing response time and calibration.
  • Flow control and pressure sensor faults — flow, temperature or pressure compensation drifting, which biases concentration.
  • Calibration and span drift — failing zero and span checks, which is a compliance problem in a regulatory network.
  • Internal ozone generator faults — on equipped units, the generator not producing a stable span reference.
  • Touchscreen and interface faults — unresponsive panels on the iQ Series display.
  • Communication faults — ePort, network or data logger connections dropping and losing data.

FAQs

Our zero has drifted. Lamp or scrubber? Frequently the scrubber, which people replace last. A lamp with falling output and a tired scrubber produce similar drift, so we test them separately rather than guessing.

How often should the UV lamp be replaced? It depends on runtime rather than calendar age. We measure output against specification and tell you where yours actually sits instead of replacing it on principle.

Do you handle the rest of the iQ Series? Yes, including the 42iQ and 48iQ, and the older i Series analyzers.

Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.

Shipping & Returns

Packing your equipment. You are responsible for packaging equipment adequately for transit. We strongly recommend the original manufacturer’s case, or double-boxing with at least two inches of shock-absorbing material on all six sides.
