Description

Anton Paar Litesizer DIF 100 Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer Repair

June Company repairs the Anton Paar Litesizer DIF 100 at the component level — the laser source, the detector arrays, the optical bench, the dispersion unit and the control electronics — rather than swapping modules until something works. Send us the instrument and you get a firm quote before anything is touched, a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty on the work, and NIST-traceable calibration included with most repairs. The evaluation fee is credited to the repair, and most instruments are back out the door in one to three business days.

Knowing the instrument is the difference between a repair and a parts swap. The Litesizer DIF line measures by laser diffraction, and the 100 is the core instrument in that range. The important thing for repair is that diffraction does not measure size directly. It measures a scattering pattern and computes a distribution from it, so a few failed elements in the detector array or a small shift in bench alignment does not raise an error — it returns a distribution that looks entirely reasonable and is wrong. That class of fault is invisible to a self-test and obvious against a certified standard, which is what we verify every repair with.

What is included with every Litesizer DIF 100 repair

  • Component-level diagnosis and repair — board and component work by certified technicians, not module replacement.
  • A firm quote before any work begins — including which subsystem failed and why, so the decision is yours.
  • 90-day parts-and-labor warranty on everything we repair.
  • NIST-traceable calibration included with most repairs.
  • Functional testing against a certified particle size standard before the instrument ships back.
  • Evaluation fee credited to the repair — it is not an extra charge on top.
  • No forms and no account needed — send it in and we take it from there.
  • Out-of-warranty and end-of-support instruments welcome — a large share of what comes through the bench.

Common Litesizer DIF 100 problems we fix

  • Detector array element failures — dead or drifting elements in the ring array, which distorts the calculated distribution.
  • Optical bench alignment drift — beam and detector geometry moving after transport, so the inversion returns a plausible but wrong distribution.
  • Cell window fouling and scratching — deposits and damage in the sample path that read as fines which are not there.
  • Dispersion unit faults — pump, stirrer and ultrasonic probe problems that leave agglomerates intact and size the agglomerate rather than the particle.
  • Laser output degradation — falling source power, which raises noise on the weakest detector channels first.
  • Communication and software faults — the instrument not being recognised by the host PC, or results not writing to the report.

FAQs

What does the evaluation involve, and what does it cost me? We bench-test the instrument, identify the failed subsystem and send you a firm price. The evaluation fee is credited to the repair if you go ahead, so the repair costs what the quote says and nothing more.

Nothing has failed but results no longer match our reference material. Is that the instrument? Very likely, and it is the normal way diffraction instruments fail. The inversion always returns an answer, so a detector or alignment fault shows up as a wrong distribution rather than an error.

Do you service the dispersion unit too? Yes. Pump, stirrer and ultrasonic faults are a frequent cause of results drifting large, because an undispersed agglomerate gets sized as a particle.

Every repair is backed by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty, with a firm quote before any work begins. Email us or submit a service request.

Shipping & Returns

Packing your equipment. You are responsible for packaging equipment adequately for transit. We strongly recommend the original manufacturer’s case, or double-boxing with at least two inches of shock-absorbing material on all six sides. We return your equipment in the packaging it arrived in, so please send it in packaging that will survive the return trip as well. If your packaging is damaged or inadequate for the return, we will substitute suitable packaging and may charge the cost of materials.

Insurance. Equipment is not insured by June Company while in transit. We strongly recommend insuring your shipment for its full replacement value.

Risk of loss. Risk of loss remains with you until your equipment is received at our facility, and transfers back to you when your repaired unit is delivered to the carrier (F.O.B. shipping point). June Company is not responsible for equipment lost, delayed, misdelivered, or damaged in transit, in either direction.

Return label. A prepaid and preprinted return shipping label should be included with your shipment. If one is not included, we will provide one.

Transit damage. Damage occurring in transit is the responsibility of the carrier. It is not a warranty defect and is not covered by the 90-day repair warranty. Any claim must be filed by you with the carrier; we will supply photographs and documentation to support it at no charge.
