Status: Current Production (MDA-550 Series III is latest)
Overview
The Fluke MDA Series Motor Drive Analyzers are purpose-built for troubleshooting variable frequency drive (VFD) and motor systems. Built on the 190 Series ScopeMeter platform, these analyzers add guided step-by-step measurement procedures, preset measurement profiles for each drive section (input, DC bus, output, motor), and built-in report generation. The MDA-550 adds harmonics analysis (1st–51st, plus extended ranges to 150 kHz) and motor shaft voltage discharge detection using carbon fiber brush probe tips — critical for identifying bearing damage before catastrophic failure.

Common Fluke MDA Series Failures We Repair
- Input channel damage from high-energy transients captured during drive output measurements
- Current probe interface degradation causing inaccurate drive current readings
- Carbon fiber brush probe tip wear reducing motor shaft voltage detection sensitivity
- Display failures from thermal stress in motor control center environments
- Data storage corruption losing captured drive analysis reports
- Firmware update failures requiring factory-level restoration
Our technicians perform component-level diagnostics on every Fluke MDA Series unit. We don’t just replace boards — we identify and repair the specific failed components, saving you the cost of full module replacements when possible.
Calibration
Every Fluke MDA Series repair includes NIST-traceable calibration. We verify bandwidth response, timebase accuracy, vertical accuracy across all input channels, trigger sensitivity, and multimeter functions. You receive a detailed calibration certificate documenting measured performance against Fluke’s published specifications.
Who Uses the Fluke MDA Series?
