Thermo Scientific FirstDefender RMX Analyzer Repair

The FirstDefender RMX is the handheld Raman half of the Thermo Scientific responder kit: 785 nm excitation with output settable at 75, 125 or 250 mW, a silicon CCD detector, a Raman range of 250 to 2,875 cm-1 and resolution of 7 to 10.5 cm-1 FWHM, all in a 2 lb instrument rated from -20 to +50 degrees C. It identifies unknown solids and liquids through sealed containers and clear packaging without opening them, operated in gloves by someone who cannot afford a second attempt. Most of what reaches us reflects that service life: dropped instruments, degraded lasers, and sapphire windows pressed against far too many rough surfaces.
